Like other steroids it is mainly used for treating certain inflammatory conditions, but also has a wider range of effects, including metabolism changes and immune responses. The drug contains Methylprednisolone acetate as main ingredient and is available in oral tablets with various strengths. It acts by preventing the release of substances in the body which cause inflammation, at the same time decreasing the immune system’s response to these conditions and reducing such symptoms as pain, swelling and allergic reactions.

When is Depo-Medrol indicated?

It can be prescribed for vestibular neuritis and may be useful in preventing embryos from being rejected when in vitro fertilization procedure is performed.

How to take Depo-Medrol?
Depo-Medrol tablets are administered by mouth in a dose prescribed by the doctor. It is necessary to receive your dosage at one and the same time each day to maintain an even level of the drug in your blood and avoid overdosing. Gradual dose tapering is necessary when stopping the drug to prevent severe side effects that occur after the natural production of cortisol by adrenal glands has been ceased.
