What is Duricef?
Duricef (cefadroxil) is an antibiotic drug effective in combating bacterial infections. According to medical expertise, Duricef is commonly classified as being an antibiotic (drug that combats infections in the body) but to be more precise, it is a representative of cephalosporines, another class of drugs derived from fungus and efficient in eliminating both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Duricef’s mechanism of action activates soon after consumption and absorption. Duricef targets and eliminates bacteria.

What are the indications for using Duricef?
The following infections are compatible with Duricef treatment:
  • Strep throat – a pharyngitis infection affecting the pharynx. Common symptoms include, fever, deep coughing, and sore throat. Strep throat is a contagious infection passed on through close contact.
  • Urinary tract infection – a condition that can affect either the lower or upper part of the urinary tract. However, when the latter infection is established, it is usually called a kidney infection. Regardless, UTIs are painful affairs characterized by pain and difficulty urinating, as well as other symptoms with time.
  • Reproductive tract infection. Just like its name suggests, the reproductive tract infection originates from the reproductive tract. It can affect both men and women and has a very unique set of symptoms, varying based on the patient’s individual medical history.
  • Complicated skin infection – a disorder or abnormality of the skin caused by bacteria. In most cases, the skin tissue becomes inflamed and swollen, and a whole range of measures is applied to treat it effectively.
What is the dosage of Duricef?
Duricef comes in the form of 250mg, 500mg and 1g tablets which are administered orally. When treating children, the recommended dose is 30mg per kilogram of their body weight, but the dosage is much more specific for adults.
